You could also buy some rare minis like unded celestial rats.
There still rising in price so you could even make profit out of it.

I would say Z keys, lockpicks or black dye. Everything else is too volatile.

That'd be more correct, yes

lockpicks... start chest running, 4 account wide titles done in one fell swoop... good for when you're really bored.

-edit: saying this as i assume you have filled your hall of monuments with the necessary items and just ran outta crap to buy.

If you plan to keep maxing out your platinum then buy high end miniatures and let the ptraders do what they do best. Entry is steep but once you break in you make money just by having patience and letting the item gather dust.

Armbraces are even more risky than ectos as DoA is still easily farmable, it's just the matter of the players population's focus shifting to it (a PuG friendly version of build with good explanations getting high publicity may cause it) and they can drop hard. Ectos despite trader values getting large variations are actually more stable than most think, but chances are they will drop like 10% from current price and then stabilize.

Lockpicks have always worked because their price in gold is practically fixed - I have used them to avoid major losses in massive ecto fluctuations, but if you want to store value in them for a longer time, there comes the problem of gold inflation - for at least a year now gold has been steadily losing value (buying power) and so every means of storing value denominated in gold were also losing real value (although their price in gold remains the same).

If you want to buy expensive items in the future it's probably a good decision to start buying ectos even now if you find them at the lower end of price range, because you will eventually need them anyway to buy anything worth over 100k.

Recommendation: store 25-30% of your wealth in ectos. Diversify the rest.

ectos keep jumping up and down in price, and its only a matter of time before a new SC is found, and they drop back to 4k

zkeys are hard to buy and sell for 5k, but they seem the most appealing to me right now

lockpicks are hard to sell

what are your thoughts?
The whole idea origionally was to not allow hoarding of any type in a safe manner. That is why there is the 100,000 gold limit per character an unless you are willing to shell out $10 a pop for extra character slots you are pretty limited in actual safe cash to 1,400,000 or so if you only own one chapter. I own all 3 and can accumulate 2,000,000 max safe cash. The rest is setup for investments either buying up hopeful sellable goods like ectos, zkeys, lockpicks, gems and rare items like armbraces, destroyer and/or tormenter weapons. Other investments into titles by buying sweets and alcohol and unidentified gold drops etc.

Myself I prefer zkeys as they maintain a pretty good market value and if worse comes to worse they also have an intrinsic value by turning them into the z-chest and possibly getting a rare drop from it worth 100's of thousands as well. Ectos are only valueable if someone wants Elite FOW armors or for easy trading for highend goods like tormentor or destroyer weapons and/or the silly mini pets. (Mini pets was the most stupid idea ever implemented into the game because they have no use in the game whatsoever just another vainity item.)

As the game life grows in years everything will become less and less wanted or needed and of course everything will die in value. I went back and played Everquest after 5 years away from it an it being well over 10 years old now and prices have dropped to all time lows for many of the popular items when the game was fresh and new. It's still the same boring sit & pull game it always was. I would have thought they would have improved it over the years to be more like GW in moving around. I'm afraid GW2 is going to turn into a sit & pull game like EQ with the persistant world they are building for it.

Also if Anet hadn't of implemented inscriptions the economy would be flourshing still as it wouldn't be so easy to get that max perfect item like it is now. It's so easy now I have nearly all my characters heroes decked out with the best max perfect items out there. Players would be wanting to buy something else besides just tormenter or destroyer weapons and greens would be easier to sell and at higher prices too. It's too bad they turned this game into a Romper Room type game.

Spend some money on extra accounts. Not only is it additional storage, but it's also a gold sink.

Of course, it's also a pretty egregious violation of the EULA, but anet doesn't care, right?

Dude, just buy stuff with it.. go all out and deck your characters out in the best looking gear. What are you trying to achieve with two accounts packed with money?

I forgot to mention, elite sin tomes are an amazing storage device. You can easily get them for 1k each.
